Doing the dishes.
Tasks we put off, or hurry to finish as quickly as we can.
But what if they were opportunities for mindfulness?
Now that I’m single, the dishes just don’t pile up like they used to – certainly not enough to fill the dishwasher.
After every meal, I wash them by hand. I don’t rush through. I simply do.
I note the feeling of the warm water and just…wash.
The process becomes a meditation of sorts, clearing my mind of everything but the task in front of me.
Meditation doesn’t always mean sitting cross-legged on a cushion.
It might mean vacuuming.
Do you have a mundane meditation?
