I stumbled across the term “microadventures” today, and it immediately resonated with me.
As an adult with a host of responsibilities, it probably isn’t practical for me to wake up tomorrow and set off on a hitchhiking trip across the country.
Though I can’t say I’m not tempted.
But, in this next phase in my life, I’m consciously injecting a bit more adventure into my days, no matter how small.
And that’s the idea of Alastair Humphrey’s “microadventures.” An adventure doesn’t have to be big, or earth-shattering, or even Instagram worthy. It can be a backyard campout, a local hike, or just going somewhere in your own city that you’ve never been.
He even has a book about it: Microadventures: Local Discoveries for Great Escapes.
